Should Turkeys Have a Bigger Voice in Washington than Marketers?

shutterstock_112798966While the DMA Political Action Committee (PAC), Direct Voice PAC is the marketing industry’s preeminent members only PAC, our funding is way behind some other corporate and trade association PACs.  To put Direct Voice PAC in perspective, PACs such as the National Turkey Federation raised more than $371,000 to Direct Voice PAC’s $92,000 by the end of the two-year 2012 election cycle.  Within the industry Google raised $425,000 in the 2010 cycle and $1.9 million in the 2012 election cycle.

PACs are a legal, transparent way for individuals to combine their financial resources to support Congressional candidates who share their views. By pooling resources, individuals leverage the strength of their contributions as an industry.

“Organizations such as DMA are far more effective than individuals in protecting their member interests and supporting the election of pro-business candidates,” says Adam Nelson, Director of Government Affairs, DMA.  “Our PAC supports candidates to both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate that understand our industry and support responsible marketing polices.”

Every DMA member can be a part of the Direct Voice PAC.  For more information, just email Adam.
